Open Hearth Ministries
A program of Homeward Bound in Puyallup, Washington
Are you in need of shelter?

                                                  Helpline - 253-307-2274

Open Hearth provides short term shelter and resources to qualifying families who are:

1)  Currently homeless with minor children in your custody.

2)  Last place of residence in the Puyallup, Bonney Lake, Sumner or Orting area. Have proof that ties you to this area. Provide evidence that your children attend a local school, a driver’s license  and a piece of mail with your last address. You must have accurate ID in order to check into the motel.

3) You may not have used our program before.
What happens when I call?
When you call, you can expect that an understanding volunteer will answer your call.  Rarely will you have to leave a voice mail. If you do leave a voicemail, someone will return your call shortly.
The screener will ask you questions to better assess your situation. Questions will include your children’s ages, the school they attend, your source of income, and the situation that led you to homelessness.   These questions help to establish your needs and if you qualify for short term shelter assistance.
If you do not qualify for our program, the screener will give you some resources that may be of benefit to your situation. If you do qualify, you will be placed in a motel for a short term stay and assigned a "visitor" . The visitor will call you and set up a time to visit and provide you with resources.
